By establishing the H. J. Klein Foundation Heinrich J. Klein and his wife Dr. Liesel Klein have provided a basis for a better understanding of different countries and their cultures. In 1993 the couple brought the private funds for the international education of students worldwide. Since then the foundation has financially supported almost 50 scholarship recipients in Germany and abroad.
In the past different units of SCHOTT GLAS, both inside and outside Germany, have taken turns administrating the selection process.

In 2012 the application process will be coordinated by the SCHOTT locations in Switzerland (St. Gallen and Yverdon).
