The objective of the Foundation is to sponsor science and international exchange by granting scholarships to students at home and abroad. Support is granted to German students abroad and to promising foreign scientists for a temporary period of scientific work in Germany. Stays which may be supported are the attendance of a summer school, scientific seminars or the direct work or cooperation on a scientific project. Students up to the age of 28 (or 33 in justified exceptions) can apply for a scholarship provided that, at the time of applying, they are studying in countries where SCHOTT companies are located. The Board of Trustees selects the applicants and defines the amount of funding the individual receives.
